Many arrive here not running.
Ten years in a garage, and the car still looks the part. Except the battery is dead, the hoses have hardened, the fuel has gone off. Getting it back on the road is mostly a question of method.
Recommissioning
You do not wake an engine that has stood for years by turning the key. Oil out, compression checked, whatever has dried out replaced, oil pressure up before the first start. An engine wrecked on waking costs ten times that preparation.
Brakes and running gear
This is the part owners put off the longest. Seized calipers, swollen hoses, spent dampers, perished bushes. On a car that gathers speed without trying, there is nothing to discuss.
Regular servicing
Oil, belts, plugs, clutch. And the check before an outing or a long run. A car that rarely runs wears differently from one used daily, so it needs watching differently.
